So…I Wrote A Book Without Realizing It.

At one time or another, we have all thought about writing a book. Whether fictional or autobiographical, the thought has wandered itself into our heads. I was no different. Being the avid reader that I am, I always envisioned writing a book. I had no clue what genre it would be or what the plot would be about, but I knew it was a goal of mine. The only problem preventing me from doing it was myself.

You see, I have no patience. I’m a very impatient person. And writing a book requires dedicating a lot of time and energy to something you won’t see the finished product of until you’ve done all the work. Because of this, I thought I would never be able to write a book. It wasn’t in my nature to dedicate so much time to one thing and not see its rewards for months, maybe even years. Then I realized something, I already had done that very thing by creating this blog.

Every time I wrote a blog post, I was publishing a piece of a book. I didn’t know it was a book when I was writing it. But how could it not be? Blog posts are pretty close to being chapters of a book, the entire blog being the book. With some more writing, editing, formatting, and all the other things that go into creating a book, I had a book on my hands. And that’s where we are now.

I have transformed my best and most in-depth blog posts into essays and created a complete essay collection including lots of brand new, never before seen essays as well. Doing this for the last few months has been a whirlwind. Reading my old blog posts was certainly an experience. I apparently didn’t believe in proofreading, for some reason. I can’t begin to tell you how many errors I found, it was both hilarious and humbling. But it also showed me how far of a writer I have come, that I’m even able to write and release a book.

And without further ado, what you clicked on this post for, a look at my first book, Living Rent Free In My Head: Essays on Pop Culture.

Isn’t it the most beautiful thing you have ever seen? No, okay, probably not. Since you don’t have the emotional investment in it that I do. But hopefully, you still find it pretty cool. Each day as we inch toward release day, it gets more and more real that I wrote a book. A pipe dream of mine will finally be realized on August 2, 2022. That is the release day for the ebook and paperback. You can pre-order the ebook now on Amazon and other vendors where you can get books.

The ebook is currently priced at $3.15 USD on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo. It is priced at $3.99 USD on Apple Books. Leading up to the release week, more vendors will begin to carry the ebook if you prefer to wait and purchase from your preferred vendor. The paperback version of the book will become available to purchase on the day of the release if you want a physical copy.

In the weeks to come, I’ll be writing more about how this process came about, my decision to self-publish, what all went into self-publishing including the expenses (surprise, it’s not cheap), and whatever else you guys would like to know. If you have any questions for me, you can leave them down below and I will be sure to answer them. The next few months are going to be crazy and exciting at the same time. I’m looking forward to it and I hope you all are as well.
